Case Study: Russell's IT Service Split

The Project: Russell's Construction based in Trafford Park, Manchester, used shared IT resources, and due to Russell's expansion required independent systems to aid their growth. This included separation from the existing domain and the installation of a new local domain & Controller, file, print and email server, an independent internet line, as well as the re configuration of all current desktops and laptops based on construction sites across the north west.

The Solution: As the current incumbent IT services partner, FORESIGHTtechnical have been asked to put forward a design and install solution.

As a large construction company, much of Russell's file and print comes from large design drawings, estimation and accounts packages and as such they required high performance, high specification servers. We therefore chose to include the purchase of a new IBM xSeries server to meet such high utilization. The server sits on the existing LAN infrastructure, and provides enough power to serve the current user base with scope to further upgrade as the business requires.

The new server included the creation of a new local domain, transfer of all existing files, the creation of independent back up routines, and the set up of advanced system software to aid the remote server management and support services provided by FORESIGHTtechnical.

The project was managed by our team of highly skilled engineers, and working closely with Russell's management, resulted in zero down time.

Andy Russell, Managing Director commented;

"Foresight researched the requirements of the business and built this solution around their results. We have enjoyed a smooth transition with minimal disruption for such a major project, while at the same time ensured our technology is growing with our business"
